Teenagers sneaking onto properties, shooting people with water guns

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWSNOW) — Shilito neighbors say teenagers have been running rampant, sneaking onto properties and shooting people with realistic-looking water guns.

Two anonymous women tell ABC 36 NewsNow they were enjoying a Father’s Day dinner when they became victim of the ongoing attacks.

“He had painted the gun to look like a real gun, parked his motorcycle across the street, snuck up through the bushes there, and then took fire at everyone in the backyard,” she said.

They are worried that this ‘prank’ could turn deadly. Both women saying the realistic-looking nature of the gun might prompt someone to pull a real one out in defense.

“If you see someone pulling a gun like that and start to shoot, you’re going to shoot back,” she said.

After the Father’s Day incident, the women say they called Lexington Police. After about an hour, an officer called them back and told them the following:

“There’s a group of teenage boys going around this neighborhood doing it, we’re getting like eight to ten reports a day about it, but the time that we go to the site and try to track them down, they’re gone.”

They say that while no one was hurt during their family dinner, the prank scared them, and they hope it all stops before it goes too far.
