Teenager killed in hit-and-run in front of his house in Montgomery County
MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the driver who hit and killed an 18-year old boy and drove-off on Monday night.
Sheriff David Charles says the teen was crossing the road in front of his house when he was hit. A passerby found the body in the road shortly after the incident around 9:30 p.m., according to the sheriff.
It happened on KY 11 (Levee Road) in a rural part of the county.
The sheriff says it was raining and foggy at the time of the incident. He says speed doesn’t appear to have been a factor.
The case is currently classified as a death investigation, according to the sheriff.
Sheriff Charles says investigators are looking at security camera video and images from homes in the area, which they hope will help them identify the driver and vehicle involved in the deadly hit-and-run.
The teen’s name wasn’t immediately released.
Anyone with information that could help investigators is asked to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 859-498-8704 or dispatch at 859-498-8720.
