Teen, children, injured in Laurel County crash

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – 9 people, including a teen, and 6 younger children were taken to the hospital – some with critical injuries – after a 2-vehicle crash on US 25 and KY 3094 in Laurel County.

The Sheriff says that a maroon-colored Chevrolet Venture traveling southbound, turned left at the intersection of KY 3094 directly into the path of a northbound Toyota Highlander causing a collision.

The Venture, driven by 29-year-old Teresa Sturgill, was carrying 5 children, ranging in ages of 16 months to 10 years of age.  Three of the children received critical injuries.

The Highlander was driven by 42-year-old Rachel O’Neal, and was carrying two passengers, aged 14 and 11.

All of the occupants of Sturgill’s vehicle were taken to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment, with three of them – aged 6, 4, and 8, sent on to UK Med Center with serious to critical injuries.

O’Neal, and the two children in her car were sent to St. Joseph Hospital London.

The crash remains under investigation.
