‘Taste of the Races’ draws hundreds to Keeneland for drinks, deals
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Thursday is the official start of the Keeneland Spring Meet. But ahead of the races, shoppers got a preview at a ‘Taste of the Races’.
The Keeneland Shop opened up Tuesday for the special two-day spring preview. It’s an event that Jackie Jay says keeps her coming back year after year.
And she’s not the only one. John Morton drove in from Ashland.
“My parents started bringing me when I was in grade school,” said Morton, who tells us he’s been coming ever since.
Hundreds of shoppers on the hunt for race day looks, Keeneland memorabilia and more got a chance to browse through the shop and take advantage of a special 20% discount.
Morton shared his favorite part of the event.
“20% off and the alcohol,” laughed Morton, holding up a souvenir glass.
Jay added, “The drinks, yes. And the popcorn.”
And because it is called a ‘Taste of the Races’ the first 200 in line received a souvenir Keeneland Catstudio glass.
