Target to open first small-format store in KY near UK campus

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Target has announced it will open a small-format store near the University of Kentucky in Lexington next year.

It will be the retailer’s first small-format store to open in Kentucky.

The company says the store will occupy the ground floor of Hub on Campus Lexington, a luxury apartment complex, located at 500 S. Upper Street, near Pine Street.

Target says the 20,000 square foot store will offer students and residents a quick-trip shopping experience with fresh produce, grab-and-go items, snacks and meals, an assortment of dorm and apartment essentials, clothing and portable technology products and entertainment accessories.

Target has signed a lease with Core Spaces, subject to permit approvals, for the store that is anticipated to open in summer 2019.
