Talley’s Barbecue gives back to Lexington community

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Talley’s Barbecue set up Sunday at Clean Sweep Car Wash on South Broadway for a back-to-school lunch.

Chef Love Talley grilled hamburgers and hotdogs that he gave for free to children and their families during a Talley’s Barbecue drive-through. He held the event because he wanted to take some of the financial strain of back-to-school season off parents in Lexington.

“The parents spend a lot of money taking their kids to school, school shopping and everything else and hopefully this helps them out a little bit,” said Chef Talley.

He says, for him, it’s not about the money. Instead, it’s about giving back to people in the community. Chef Talley says knowing that he can take what he enjoys doing and turn it into something that helps people in Lexington, makes him happy.

“It makes me feel great,” said Chef Talley. “It’s one of those things where you wake up and you say, ‘What can I do to make a difference?’ I think doing positive things like this right here you can make a positive impact on a community as a whole”

Chef Talley says he fed 230 kids Sunday. There were leftovers that he says he took to the homeless at the Hope Center.
