Taking time off

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – College coaches are paid a lot of many at the top levels of the game.  John Calipari and his staff are doing quite well in their piggy banks.

But with high monetary compensation comes high demand and lofty expectations.

Does Cal think today’s college coaching cream of the crop can decompress and unplug for some time off even in the offseason?  If so, how do they do it?

Coach Cal doesn’t take a lot of time off.  Most elite collegiate coaches don’t.  In fact, many feel they can’t if they’re going to compete at an elite level.

Cal’s always on the go.  Even when he’s decompressing from the previous season before preparing for the next year, he’s recruiting.  He’s always on.

It’s just how he’s built.

He does try to get away from the game every so often.  Cal knows and understands the value in not being burnt out.

He’s also taking some more time off than usual now with such a great, veteran staff…it’s easier than before to step away.

Hear from Cal in the video.
