The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that Senate Bill 43, also knows as the Mackey Act has been given approval by the Kentucky House, and will now go to Governor Matt Bevin's office to be signed or vetoed.

John Everett Mackey, 40, died Nov. 9 after being struck by a moving vehicle while on duty.
People lined streets in Lexington and Nicholasville on Monday to pay their respects as a long procession of ambulances and other emergency vehicles brought a fallen paramedic home to Jessamine County. 40-year old John Mackey died Monday at UK Hospital, three days after he was hit by a car while on duty in Nicholasville.
