Jessamine Co. EMS win top KAPA awards

Several Jessamine County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department personnel received awards during the September 20-23 Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association (KAPA) conference in Lexington.

Mackey Act passes through house, heads to Gov. Bevin’s Office

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that Senate Bill 43, also knows as the Mackey Act has been given approval by the Kentucky House, and will now go to Governor Matt Bevin's office to be signed or vetoed.

Flags to Half-staff for fallen paramedic

Governor Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff Friday, Nov. 13, in honor of a Jessamine County paramedic fatally injured while on duty. John Everett Mackey, 40, died Nov. 9 after being struck by a moving vehicle while on duty.

Procession takes fallen paramedic home

People lined streets in Lexington and Nicholasville on Monday to pay their respects as a long procession of ambulances and other emergency vehicles brought a fallen paramedic home to Jessamine County. 40-year old John Mackey died Monday at UK Hospital, three days after he was hit by a car while on duty in Nicholasville.
