“On the Table” discussions held in Lexington

LEXINTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – “On the Table” discussions are being held around the city Wednesday to spark conversation on topics such as community improvements and quality of life within the region.

Local organizations including NAACP, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Institute for Compassion in Justice (ICJ) are playing host to the Blue Grass Community Foundation’s city-wide event.

This event is free and open to the public.

The Lexington chapter of the NAACP will host “On the Table” at two locations: Charles Young Community Center and Bryan Station Middle School Library.

The topic of discussion at the Charles Young Community Center, located at 540 East Third Street in the Lower Gym, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM and be in regard to school safety, guns in school, youth engagement, economic development and opportunities, housing, military affairs, and education (minority teachers/staff).

The event at Bryan Station Middle School will be in partnership with Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and the Alpha League from 5:30 to 7:30 PM; located at 1865 Wickland Drive.

The topics up for discussion at this session will be on social media, gun safety, education, mental health and open topic.
