Swollen creeks create flooding in Boyle Co.
Heavy rain near Coldstream Drive in Danville forced the creek to swell, with a second creek forming parallel to the usual one. The high waters flooded backyards on the north side of Danville. Meanwhile, an area under a bridge where the creek passes was too small to effectively contain the rain, causing the water to come up over the road.
Neighbors say they have never seen the water so high here, and that the deluge is drawing amateur photographers and curiosity seekers into the area.
"We have had lots of people, I’ve observed, come and pull to the bridge, stop, and get out and video and take pictures because it’s just not something you see every time we get heavy amounts of rain," says Susan Shelton, who lives by the creek.
Another neighbor had water come into the basement, and was forced to vacuum it out, even though the creek didn’t reach up to his house.
Police and weather officials are reminding anyone driving in these conditions not to drive through flooded roads, but to try to find an alternate, safer route. Never let kids play anywhere close to flood waters.
