Alert witnesses and a traffic light help police catch accused robber

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man accused of robbing a Jimmy Johns in Lexington wasn’t freaky fast enough and was caught by police thanks to the public’s help and an officer being in the right place at the right time.

Investigators say it happened at the sandwich shop on Waller Avenue around 5:00 p.m. Monday.

Police say witnesses got the suspect’s license plate number and an officer responding to the scene spotted the car on Versailles Road.

Investigators say the officer pulled right behind the suspect’s car when it got caught at a stoplight at Versailles Road and Red Mile Road.  Police say that’s when the suspect got out of the car and took off running.

Police say the accused robber was arrested a short time later on Versailles Road.
