Suspect in girl’s slaying has 5 children of his own

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (AP) – A former construction worker charged with murder in the slaying of a 7-year-old Kentucky girl is about to be arraigned.

Court records show 38-year-old Timothy Madden of Scottsville was due in court Monday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police arrested Madden on Friday, six days after Gabriella Doolin disappeared during a youth football game. She was found dead in a creek less than a half-hour later.

Madden has been charged with murder, kidnapping, first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.

Gabriella was at the game Nov. 14 to cheer on her brother. The arrest warrant said she died of manual strangulation and drowning.

Linda King is Madden’s mother-in-law. She said Monday that Madden has five children of his own and is not capable of killing someone else’s.

King says her son-in-law is a devoted family man.
