Suspect charged in attack of wife and son

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A suspect, with a domestic violence protective order filed against him, is accused of attacking his wife and son outside their home on Monday.

According to the sheriff’s office, 45-year-old Johnathan Payne is accused of hiding outside a home on Newport Lane in Berea. He then allegedly attacked his wife when she stepped outside.

The sheriff’s office says Payne allegedly then forced the victim back inside and continued attacking her. Officials say the woman’s son tried to stop Payne, but he also attacked him.

Payne then took off, but was arrested in Richmond a short time later, according to officials.

He’s now charged with assault, burglary, DUI and violation of a domestic violence order.
