Suspect accused of hiding meth in Christmas gifts arrested in Jefferson County
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Investigators in Jefferson County have arrested a man accused of disguising a large amount of methamphetamine as Christmas presents.
According to Jeffersontown Police, 23-year-old Jacob Talamantes was arrested earlier this week on drug trafficking charges following an investigation along the Bluegrass Parkway.
Police say a K-9 alerted to Talamantes’ vehicle during the investigation. A search of the car allegedly led officers to the trunk, where they found more than 55 pounds of methamphetamine. Investigators say the drugs were packaged inside multiple boxes wrapped in Christmas paper to look like holiday gifts.
According to police, Talamantes told investigators he was traveling from Iowa and allegedly planned to sell the drugs.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional charges could be possible.
