LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens Friday, Oct. 1 and a recent survey aimed to demonstrate the misconceptions students have around filing it.
According to Student Loan Hero’s report, 41% of students did not know that filing the FAFSA early can increase their chances of getting more financial aid.
Additionally, 43% of students believe that they must accept the full student loan amount they are eligible for, which is not the case.
The survey of more than 1,000 undergrads also found that 20% of undergraduate college students do not plan to complete the FAFSA this year.
