Summer Cooling Program Preparing For Hot Summer

As the summer heat begins, many Kentuckians have their air conditioners cranked up, but not everyone is so lucky.

The Community Action Council is asking for donations to help lend air conditioners to people whose medical conditions are aggravated by the heat. The council said it currently has 12 air conditioners, but said it needs around 100.

"It is a pretty immediate need, if it’s 90, 95 degrees outside and you have severe asthma or emphysema, or some condition that is greatly aggravated by the heat," said Cameron Minter, the Public Information Specialist with the Community Action Council. 

The Community Action said the air conditioners run for around $100 each.
