Study: KY is 2017’s most federally dependent state
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVQ) – Personal finance website WalletHub has released a study comparing 50 states on how dependent they are on federal support.
The study determined that Kentucky depends on federal support more than any other state.
WalletHub’s analysts compared the 50 states across three key metrics: return on taxes paid to the federal government; federal funding as a share of state revenue; and share of federal jobs.
Kentucky placed 5th of 50 states in the categories “Return on Taxes Paid to the Federal Government,” and “Federal Funding as a Share of State Revenue.” The state places 22nd in the category “Share of Federal Jobs.”
