Student tragically dies in crash
BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Boyd County community is mourning the loss of a student after a deadly crash Saturday night.
The coroner’s office says 18-year-old Christopher “Howie” Wilks died in a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Friendship Road and Whites Creek Road.
Investigators say Wilks’ car went off the roadway, rolled several times, and caught fire. He was thrown from the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The coroner’s office says Wilks would have been a senior this year at Boyd County High School. His body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort for an autopsy.
