Student Punched By Purse Snatcher

A student was punched in the face while fending off a purse snatcher near Transylvania University.

Lexington Police said the 19-year-old woman was walking down North Broadway when a man ran up to her and grabbed her purse.

Police said the woman tried to fend off the man, but he hit her.

The victim said the man had a gun in his pants pocket.

She said she followed him when he ran off and saw him get on a bicycle and ride away.

Police said the victim suffered minor injuries.

The suspect has not been found.
