Streets closing in Frankfort for Capital Plaza demolition work

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Streets in part of Frankfort will begin closing down Thursday as part of the Capital Plaza Complex redevelopment project.

The complex is being demolished to make way for a new downtown office building and parking garage.

During the first phase of demolition, Clinton Street will be closed between Wilkinson Boulevard and St. Clair Street.

Clinton Street will be converted to 2-way traffic between the parking lot entrance to the John C. Watts Federal Building and High Street.

Parking will also be prohibited along Clinton Street from Wilkinson Boulevard to Lewis Street

Mero Street will also be converted to 2-way traffic between Wilkinson Boulevard and Ann Street and on-street parking will be prohibited along Mero Street between Wilkinson Boulevard and St. Clair Street.

Some sidewalk restrictions may be necessary near the Capital Plaza Complex and Frankfort Convention Center during construction.

The road closures are scheduled to be in place by early evening on Thursday, February 8 and will be in place approximately five weeks.

Motorists are urged to pay close attention to traffic control signs in this corridor through the duration of the project.
