Storm Damage in Monticello

WAYNE COUNTY, KY (ABC36 NEWS NOW)The Monticello Fire Department has been actively responding to several incidents caused by severe weather overnight. The department addressed two propane smell calls, numerous trees on power lines, assisted in clearing roadways, and assessed damage throughout the area.

The most significant response was to Conley Bottom Resort, where reports of damage and a roof collapse occurred during the height of the storm. The photo of the scene at Conley Bottom Resort is courtesy WKYM 101.7 radio station. At 1:14 AM, the department was dispatched for a roof collapse with individuals trapped on the docks. Fire personnel searched the docks and campgrounds, assisted with securing utilities, and cleared roadways to the dock and campground areas. Most people were able to self-evacuate.

Personnel worked for about three and a half hours at the scene and returned equipment to service afterward. Thankfully, only a few minor injuries were reported and were treated on the scene by Wayne County EMS.

Additionally, the Wayne County Rescue Squad deployed boats to search docks and boats that had broken away during the storm.
