Storm Damage In Lexington
Lightning struck the northern part of Lexington around 8 p.m.
According to Vipar Radar, Kentuckians saw about 5,000 strikes of lightning. Even when the rain let up, the lightning continued.
The National Weather Service says that lightning can strike up to 10 miles outside of a thunderstorm.
Storms today caused power lines to go down, closing Hume Road in Lexington.
There were overturned trash cans, fallen tree limbs and even an umbrella that blew into a tree.
