Steve Lawson files notice of appeal

NELSON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – One of the men convicted in the murder of Bardstown mother of five Crystal Rogers is now appealing his conviction and prison sentence.

Steve Lawson was found guilty in May after a four-day trial of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence in connection to Rogers’ 2015 death and disappearance. He was sentenced on August 6 to 17 years in prison.

According to ABC affiliate WHAS 11, Lawson’s attorneys filed a notice of appeal Tuesday seeking to overturn both the conviction and the sentence. Officials say the judge has granted the defense’s motion to move forward with the appeal.
