State’s positivity rate continues fall, approaches 8%

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The hope and good news continues, however slight, as the number of new COVID cases in the state, positivity rate and other indicators continue the slow decline.

In Monday’s report, the state announced 722 new cases of COVID-19 and a decreased positivity rate of 8.26%. Of the new cases, 147 are in people 18 and under.

The new cases pushed the state’s total since March 2020 to 714,904.

The governor also reported 23 new deaths, raising that grim number to 9,150.

The positivity rate was down from 8.49% Friday, 8.67% Thursday to 8.49% and 9.11% Wednesday.

Other indicators are down as well.

The number of people in the hospital fell to 1,399 from 1,514 Friday, 1,578 Thursday, 1,995 Wednesday, 1,677 Tuesday and 1,668 last Monday.

The number of people in intensive care fell to 418 Monday from 466 Friday, 472 Thursday, 573 Wednesday, 494 Tuesday and 496 last Monday.

The same goes for the number of people on a ventilator with 266 reported Monday, a big drop from 310 reported Friday, 313 reported Thursday, 384 Wednesday and 323 last Tuesday.
