State’s new COVID cases over 2,700, positivity at 11.57%
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – New COVID cases in the state fell slightly from Wednesday’s high, but it was not enough to suggest the surge is tapering off.
In its daily report Thursday, the state confirmed 2,713 cases, down from 2,961 Wednesday but still above the 2,500 reported Tuesday.
Thursday’s number pushed the total cases in the state since the outbreak began to 508,310.
Of the new cases, 606 are in people 18 and under, down only slightly from 611 on Wednesday.
The positivity rate rose to 11.57% from 11.22% Wednesday and 11.05% Tuesday.
The Governor also reported 2,386,200 Kentuckians vaccinated.
The state reported six new coronavirus-related deaths, raising the total death toll since the pandemic began in March 2020 to 7,414.
The state reported 1,371 people in the hospital, up from 1,327 Wednesday, 1,251 Tuesday, 1,139 people Monday, 976 Friday, 939 people last Thursday, 889 last Wednesday, 824 last Tuesday and 625 just 13 days ago.
In addition, 357 people are in ICU, down slightly from 363 people Wednesday, but up from 339 Tuesday, 331 Monday, 286 Friday, 275 last Wednesday, and 263 last Tuesday. Meanwhile, 169 people were reported on a ventilator, the same as Wednesday, but up from 168 Tuesday, 158 Monday, 121 Friday, 108 last Thursday, and 100 last Wednesday.
