State’s new COVID case numbers, hospitalizations continue slow decline
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The state’s COVID positivity rate continues to hang stubbornly in the 2 percent range, rising slightly to 2.09% percent Friday, the state reported.
While low, staying in the same range for more than a week is an indication the virus may be stagnating.
Meanwhile, 211 new cases of COVID were registered in the state in Friday’s report, with 42 of the new cases in people 18 and under (june 18 COVID19DailyReport).
The state continues to have no ‘red’ counties and only seven in the ‘orange’ category. The vast majority are in yellow.
The state reported two coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Kentucky’s overall death toll since the pandemic hit to 7,180.
Of the total cases, the state said 209 people were in the hospital, down 20 from Thursday, 56 are in ICU, down 10 from Thursday, and 28 are on a ventilator, down eight from Thursday.
