State’s COVID positivity rate up again, hospitalizations at another record

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – On Friday, the state announced 4,815 newly reported cases of #COVID19, 18 deaths and an increased positivity rate of 13.33%.
The governor also reported 2,496,578 Kentuckians vaccinated.
The 4,815 cases pushed the state’s total to 562,623 since March 2020. The positivity rate is up from 13.24% Thursday and marks 43 straight days of increases.

Of the new cases, 1,529 are in people 18 and under. That was down from 1,759 Thursday but up from 1,518 Wednesday 1,335 Tuesday.

The 18  deaths mean the state now has lost 7,685 people to COVID-related causes.

The number of people in the hospital rose to 2,129 from 2,115 Thursday, 2,074 Wednesday, 2,014 Tuesday and 1,893 Monday.

The number of people in ICU climbed again to 592 from 590 Thursday, 549 Wednesday, 589 Tuesday and 529 Monday. Meanwhile, 349 people are on ventilators compared to 345 Thursday, 338 Wednesday and Tuesday and 301 Monday.
