State’s COVID positivity rate continues to decline

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The state’s COVID positivity rate continues to decline even as some other indicators are up slightly.

The governor announced Friday 1,957,642 persons vaccinated in Kentucky and a positivity rate that has declined to 2.62%. The Governor also reported 544 new cases of #COVID19. For more on Friday’s report visit kycovid19.ky.gov.

The state reported 544 new cases, down slightly from the previous Friday.

Of Thursday’s new cases, 112 were in people under 18, which was adecrease from Thursday’s 133 cases in people under 18.

The state recorded five3 new deaths, bringing the total since March 2020 to 6,698.

Additionally, 365 people are in the hospital, which is up eight from Thursday, 108 are in ICU, up four from Thursday, and 51 are on ventilators, up from 44 on Thursday.

The top five counties by percent of residents vaccinated are: Woodford (58%), Franklin (57%), Fayette (55%), Scott (49%) and Campbell (48%).

The bottom five counties by percent of residents vaccinated are: Christian (18%), Spencer (18%), Ballard (20%), Lewis (21%) and McCreary (21%).
