State Police Searching For Escaped Inmate
State police are searching for an inmate who walked away from a Richmond halfway house.
According to the Department of Corrections, Russell Helm left the Bluegrass Career Development Center around 10:30 a.m. Thursday. They say Helm fled after being confronted by halfway house staff for violating rules.
The department of corrections says Helm had a job assignment working in the recycling center. According to court records Helm was in prison on drug related charges.
Eastern Kentucky University has issued a safety alert in response to Helm’s escape.
