BREAKING: KSP say Owen Co. shooting suspect captured in New Mexico
OWENTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Facebook post from Kentucky State Police says that Owen Co. shooting suspect Derrick Thomas has been captured.
A release says that the Thomas was captured in Gallup, New Mexico.
Thomas was wanted on an assault charge after shooting 54-year-old James Neal in the hand and leg during an argument in an Owenton home.
Thomas’ wife, Elizabeth Neal, and their two daughters were found safely together with him.
Elizabeth Neal is being held on charges unrelated to the shooting.
No word yet on how Thomas was found.

KSP: Owen Co. shooting suspect “armed and dangerous”
Kentucky State Police are continuing their search for a man they say is responsible for a non-fatal shooting in Owen County back on February 18th.
Troopers say Derrick Mays Thomas is considered armed and dangerous, after allegedly shooting 54-year-old James Neal in the hand and leg during an argument in an Owenton home.
Thomas is also a suspect in the shooting of Amber Neal in the arm during the same altercation.
State Police say Thomas is believed to be in the company of his girlfriend, Elizabeth Neal, and their 1 and 3-year-old daughters.

Troopers say Thomas may be traveling in a blue/silver 2003 2-door Hyundai Accent with Kentucky registration plate 651-LFE or a gray 2003 4-door Mitsubishi Galant with Kentucky registration plate 124-VET. Thomas has ties to Clark, Montgomery, and Menifee Counties and is wanted for assault.

State Police investigating after man reportedly shot two people in Owen County
State Police in Owen County are looking for a man troopers say shot two people.
According to troopers, it appears 23-year-old Derrick Thomas from Mount Sterling fought with 54-year-old James Neal in an Owenton home.
During the fight, Thomas reportedly shot Neal in the hand and leg, and shot 25-year-old Amber Neal in the arm.
Troopers say Thomas left the house in a gray Mitsubishi Galant with license plate number 124-VET.
Both victims are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. According to troopers, Thomas is considered armed and dangerous.
He could be with his girlfriend 22-year-old Elizabeth Neal and their two young kids in the Mount Sterling or Winchester areas.
Troopers say if you see him, do not approach. Just call state police.
