State police investigating apparent murder-suicide in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky State Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after two people were found dead inside a home in Beattyville.

Troopers say the bodies of 48-year-old Bearl Ashcraft Jr. and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Hayley Davidson, were discovered Monday during a welfare check at a home on Sally Davis Road.

Investigators believe Ashcraft shot and killed Davidson before taking his own life. Their bodies have been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsies.

The investigation remains ongoing.
