State Police investigated armed robbery in Floyd County

WAYLAND, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police are investigating an armed robbery on KY 1086 in Floyd County.

Troopers say when they arrived after 5 p.m. someone told them a man came in the back door of the Wallace family’s home and held Russell Wallace and his wife at gunpoint.

The suspect then reportedly took two guns and a car and drove off towards Wayland.

An hour and a half later KSP says a complaint about a reckless driver near the Dwale community matched the description of the car in the robbery.

When troopers tried to make a traffic stop, the driver wouldn’t stop. A one minute pursuit with a top speed of 50 miles per hour ended when the driver ran out of the car.

Troopers found 26-year-old Zackery Howard from Coal Branch hiding in a garage.

Howard was arrested and charged with robbery, theft, resisting arrest, menacing, and disorderly conduct.
