State Police Honor Central KY Veterinarian
A Richmond man was recognized as an honorary trooper Wednesday morning by the Kentucky State Police.
Doctor Michael Putnam was honored for providing free veterinary care to k-9 units across Kentucky.
He is caring for more than 35 police dogs from Richmond, Lexington, the University of Kentucky, and State Police.
"If I was independently wealthy, all I would do is see police dogs. Some people go fishing, some people go hunting. I see police dogs. That’s my hobby," says Putnam.
His father was a State Policeman in Illinois.
Putnam says his family had retired police dogs as pets growing up.
