State highway crews on roads; use caution
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – State highway crews remain on winter weather duty tonight, but motorists should use caution as snowy conditions linger.
Kentucky Department of Highways 6 p.m. update from snowfighters: Slow down, leave plenty of braking room between vehicles. Salt truck crews in Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Nicholas and Rowan counties have been spot treating roads and bridges all day, and will stay on duty tonight until the storm clears.
But, snow squalls have created sudden snowy conditions in many areas across the region. Where snow’s been heaviest, expect slippery conditions and use extreme caution. Air temps average 23 degrees, roads 28-30. Again, salt trucks are out, but they can’t salt dry roads. They’re chasing the squalls the best they can. Stay alert, slow down, watch for slick spots.
