State Auditor To Investigate Lexington Healthcare Clinic
State Auditor Adam Edelen’s office announced it will be conducting a review of a new Lexington primary care clinic, per request of Mayor Jim Gray.
HealthFirst, a nonprofit clinic primarily supported by tax dollars, announced last month that it might abandon opening it’s new clinic because it lacked the funding to operate the facility.
According to a release from Auditor Edelen’s office, this was after the clinic had already spend $250,000 in federal funds to develop the clinic on Southland Drive.
In the release, Auditor Edelen states "my office will conduct a limited review of the Southland Drive project to try to determine what went wrong in an effort to expand health services to low-income Lexingtonians. Questions about how a quarter of a million dollars were spent need to be answered."
