Starbucks rolls out new afternoon menu with energy drinks and snacks

(ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Starbucks says it is expanding its offerings beyond the morning rush with a new afternoon menu set to roll out over the coming weeks.

Company officials say the updated menu will include new snack and drink options designed to appeal to customers later in the day. Items will include tea, matcha and energy drinks.

Starbucks previously experimented with energy drinks but discontinued the effort about a year ago.

This time, officials say the new energy drinks will get their caffeine from green coffee extract, made from unroasted coffee beans, rather than synthetic ingredients.

The new afternoon menu will also feature snack options that include protein and fiber.

Starbucks says the new items will be available in the morning as well, giving customers additional choices throughout the day.
