Standoff in Georgetown ends peacefully

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) –  A standoff in Georgetown ended peacefully overnight.

It started just before 8:30 p.m. last night at a wood-working shop at the corner of Broadway Street and Penn Avenue.

The fire department says a man threatened to kill himself.  Nearby roads were closed while police tried to talk the man out of the shop.  He eventually came out just after midnight and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

No one was injured.
