Stabbing at Corbin truck stop leads to arrest

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman is in the hospital after being attacked with a knife at a truck stop in Corbin, and deputies say they have the man responsible in custody.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Brandon Curtis Hoskins, of Emmalena, was arrested around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Deputies say the search for Hoskins started after he got into a confrontation with a woman at Love’s Travel Stop off Ky 770 near London earlier that morning and stabbed her in the chest and back, puncturing a lung.

They say Hoskins then ran from the scene into the woods behind the truck stop.

The victim was flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital.

There is no word on her condition.

Hoskins was located in the woods, hiding behind a truck, a short time later.

Deputies say Hoskins had a knife and a pipe containing what is believed to be methamphetamine on him at the time of his arrest.

He is charged with attempted murder, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
