S&S Tire: TOYS FOR TOTS
Speaker 1: Hey guys. We are here at S&S Tire, right here in Beaumont. And I am with Jason Shade. He is the general manager here at S&S Tire. Welcome to the show.
Jason Shade: Hello. How are you?
Speaker 1: I’m doing good this morning. How are you?
Jason Shade: I’m doing not too bad for a little frigid, overcast morning.
Speaker 1: It is. It is a little chilly, right?
Jason Shade: Yeah, I know. I know it.
Speaker 1: Now, Let’s talk about … The reason that we’re here, of course, is Toys for Tots. You are the official collecting station. Is that correct?
Jason Shade: That’s correct. We’re one of them. Yeah. We’ve been involved with the program almost … at least 10 years.
Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
Jason Shade: Mm-hmm (affirmative). What that does is gives us a chance to help give back to-
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Jason Shade: Some families that might not be so fortunate and get involved with the Marines also.
Speaker 1: Right. Right.
Jason Shade: That’s always a good thing.
Speaker 1: It really is.
Jason Shade: Yeah.
Speaker 1: And also, as far as with S&S Tire, you’re second generation-
Jason Shade: Right.
Speaker 1: In being locally owned here, right? Is that correct?
Jason Shade: That is correct. Yeah. We’re going on 20 years out of this store. And then we have another in store in Brannon Crossing.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Jason Shade: That’s hard to believe. It’s our … almost 10 years old.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Jason Shade: That’s mind-boggling, actually. But, yeah. My dad started that and then I’m kinda coming in with another guy named James O’Daniel-
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Jason Shade: And we’re coming in trying to pick … fill up his shoes.
Speaker 1: Yeah. I bet. I bet. And you like getting involved with these community type events, too, these fundraisers. Not only for Toys for Tots, but also you have other events that you get involved with like local schools, and-
Jason Shade: Yep, local schools, especially Dunbar since we’re so close with them.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Jason Shade: Rosenwald, the elementary school back here-
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Jason Shade: We do some stuff for Sergeant Morales. That was one of the more recent money drives that we did.
Speaker 1: Right. Right. What inspires you all to get involved, and to be involved like that?
Jason Shade: Well, it’s just so fun. It’s one of the fun parts of the job.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Jason Shade: Is getting out and meeting people, helping, and actually showing that you’re there for them and you can really help.
Speaker 1: Right.
Jason Shade: You know?
Speaker 1: Right. Exactly. Well, and we have so much more to talk about. We do have to go to break. We will be back. You are watching Good Day Kentucky.

Speaker 1: Hey guys. Welcome back. We are here at S&S Tire right here in Beaumont. I’m here with Jason Shade. He is the General Manager.
Jason Shade: Hello.
Speaker 1: Jason you guys are pretty busy here, right?
Jason Shade: Yeah. And we’d like to say that way.
Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet.
Jason Shade: Oh yeah.
Speaker 1: You guys have been here for a long time. You get a lot of repeat customers coming back here too, don’t you?
Jason Shade: Oh yeah, we do. Some people have been coming here, literally, since we’ve opened the doors almost 20 years ago. And we thank you all for that. And it’s a blessing to have that kind of customer base.
Speaker 1: Oh, I bet. What do you attribute that to, would you say?
Jason Shade: Good service with these guys out back. Because these guys work so hard. They work long hours and they work … It’s hard work. You use your body.
Speaker 1: Right.
Jason Shade: And then good service out front. Good customer relationships. So, hopefully it all works together. And it’s done well so far.
Speaker 1: Awesome.
Jason Shade: Thank you all for that.
Speaker 1: Now, also I mean, you guys do more than tires here, right? So let’s kind of let the viewers know exactly what it is you do here.
Jason Shade: Yeah, we do. We do break work. We do transmission service. Coolant flushes. Break flushes. Anything power steering. Anything to do with that. Shocks and struts, alignments, any of that kind of stuff. But basically anything but major engine work and transmission work. We do it here.
Speaker 1: And you guys can do it fast too, right?
Jason Shade: We try.
Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, we’re here, of course, because of the Toys For Tots. You guys are trying to gather as many toys right now. What’s the timeline with that? When should people start bringing them in? And when is it going to end?
Jason Shade: It’s going to end at the end of next month. But they can start bringing them now. I mean, even if the flyers you may see around town might have a date, a certain date before or after now. Go ahead and bring them in. We’ll apply our end of the deal to the promotion.
Speaker 1: And what is it again that they’re going to get with that?
Jason Shade: They’re going to get 10% off of any sale with a toy, when they bring it in-
Speaker 1: That’s fantastic.
Jason Shade: At the counter.
Speaker 1: Okay, awesome. Well, we have more to talk about, but we do have to go to commercial break. Thank you for having us. We appreciate it. And we will be back here. You’re watching Good Day Kentucky.

Speaker 1: Hey, guys. Welcome back. We are here at S&S Tire right here in Beaumont. And I’m here with Jason Shade, he is the general manager.
Jason Shade: Hello.
Speaker 1: Welcome back.
Jason Shade: Yeah. Glad to be back.
Speaker 1: Now, let’s talk about the incentives that you have going on here at S&S Tire.
Jason Shade: Okay. Yeah. Right now until the end of November we have a Firestone promotion, it’s great because it’s a great brand. You get 60 bucks at the counter with your purchase, which means you don’t have to fool with any of that mail-in stuff, wait on a prepaid Visa card, it’s just instantly applied. You can either get a cash or you could get it taken off your bill, either way.
Speaker 1: Wow. Money in your pocket then, huh?
Jason Shade: It’s great.
Speaker 1: Oh, nice.
Jason Shade: Especially this time of year, right?
Speaker 1: Exactly.
Jason Shade: And then we have one going with General Continental Tire and it is a little bit more money you get back, it’s $70, but it’s one of the prepaid Visa cards. But it only takes about two weeks to get it so you can still spend it for the holidays, and it spends just like cash.
Speaker 1: Absolutely. Absolutely. And you know what? We’re here, obviously, for a great cause, for Toys For Tots. Let’s talk about what the community can do to help support you all in this cause.
Jason Shade: Yeah. All they have to do, it’s very, very simple. Just bring your toy with you, unwrapped. That way, if it has a big bulky box, just go ahead and take it out of that box. But if it’s in a small box leave it in that one, of course. But bring it in, and then you get 10% off of any purchase no matter what the cost of the purchase is. So if it’s 100 bucks, you get 10 bucks off.
Speaker 1: Nice. Nice. I mean, it covers taxes, it covers that type of thing. [crosstalk 00:01:39]
Jason Shade: Oh, yeah. It applies towards the total purchase.
Speaker 1: That’s fantastic. Well, thank you so much for having us here today.
Jason Shade: Hey, no problem. It was good to see y’all.
Speaker 1: Well, and good luck with the drive for the toys, of course.
Jason Shade: I know. Hopefully we can have a good one this year.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Jason Shade: Last year was a little bit down. I know it was kind of a strange year with all the stuff going on. But hopefully we can knock this one out of the park and bounce back.
Speaker 1: Well, I have faith in our community. I know we can do this, everyone.
Jason Shade: That’s right. That’s right.
Speaker 1: Well, thank you very much. We appreciate it. And we will be back right after this. You’re watching Good Day Kentucky.
