Sprinkler forces evacuation at EKU dorm

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A sprinkler went off at a dorm at Eastern Kentucky University on Tuesday, forcing an evacuation of the building.

The Richmond Fire Department says the sprinkler went off on the fourth floor inside Clay Hall just before 1:30 a.m.

Firefighters say water began pouring onto other floors.

Students were told to go to Powell building, the student center or stay with friends while a maintenance crew cleans up.

Firefighter say they are not sure what set the sprinkler off.

They say only a few floors were affected.
