Sponsor a wreath to honor a veteran, local non-profits benefit

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Wreaths Across America’s annual ‘Giving in July’ campaign is underway which honors veterans and benefits local non-profit groups at the same time.

During the month, if you sponsor a wreath to be placed on the grave of a veteran in Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County in December, area non-profits that support veterans will benefit.

It’s $15 to sponsor a wreath and $5 of each sponsorship will go to a non-profit, including ‘Friends of Lexington Fisher House,’ which is headed up by ABC 36 News Anchor Tom Kenny.

The foundation is raising money to build a Fisher House at the VA hospital on Leestown Road where veterans’ families will be able to stay for free while their loved one is in either of the two VA hospitals in Lexington.

In addition to helping non-profit groups, sponsoring a wreath will ensure that the sacrifice of our veterans is remembered and passed on to a new generation.  Remember, honor and teach.

This year the wreaths will be placed at Camp Nelson National Cemetery on December 18.
