Space Heater Sparks Early Morning Fire

A space heater caused an early-morning fire at a Lexington home on Wednesday.

The fire broke out after 1 a.m. on Elm Tree Lane.

The Lexington Fire Department said the space heater was placed too close to a shower curtain in the bathroom, sparking the fire.

A couple in the home woke up to the smell of smoke.

 They got out safely.

Firefighters said the bathroom was the only part of the house damaged.
