Somerset man charged with attempted murder of police officers

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office says Christopher Thompson was arrested March 12

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Somerset man has been charged with attempted murder of police officers, among other charges, after his arrest over the weekend.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Thompson was arrested on March 12 and booked in the Wayne County Detention Center. The sheriff’s office says Thompson was placed on suicide watch when two deputy jailers found a white powdery substance when Thompson was removing his socks. According to deputies, the substance field tested positive for a heroin and fentanyl mixture.

Thompson is also charged with possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (heroin), possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (drug unspecified) and promoting contraband-1st degree.

Thompson remained in the Wayne County Detention Center.
