Somerset first responders help local family battling cancer

SOMERSET, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Somerset Police Department scored a championship win at a recent First Responders Basketball Tournament—but the real victory was off the court.

The tournament, hosted by Somerset High School, brought together local police, EMS, and fire departments for a day of friendly competition and community spirit. All proceeds and support from the event went to benefit a local family facing a battle with cancer.

Officers say the cause was far bigger than basketball, with first responders uniting to uplift one of their own in need.
