Somerset celebrates program’s first state football title

SOMERSET, Ky (WTVQ) – On Wednesday, the Somerset Briar Jumper football team did something 113 years in the making. . . celebrate a state football title.
In front of their peers at Somerset High School, the football team showed off their new 2A KHSAA State Football Championship trophy.
Somerset defeated Mayfield, 34-31.
The Briar Jumpers drove 86 yards in 28 seconds then scored the winning touchdown on an untimed down to win the title.
