Some Can’t Go Home After Storm Damage In Paris
Many residents on one street in Paris can’t go home as crews work to repair power lines damaged by an EF1 tornado that touched down in Bourbon County Tuesday.
The Paris Fire Department started evacuating people in the 1100 block of Vine Street around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Johnny Plummer, the city manager, said the tornado knocked over power lines in the area and caused a gas explosion.
The home closest to that gas meter was destroyed, according to Plummer.
Plummer also said there were at least 10-15 other homes damaged.
Paris police did let some go back into their homes briefly on Wednesday to get prescriptions.
Steve Sexton, the superintendent of the City of Paris’ Electric Department, said they expect for power lines in the area to be repaired Wednesday.
Plummer said they have twice the number of crews working as usual. Frankfort crews also came in to help.
