Somber anniversary for Floyd County

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Thursday was a somber anniversary for people living in Floyd County 61-years ago.

A school bus crash, February 28, 1958, killed 26-students and the bus driver.

The bus collided with a tow truck, then plummeted down a hill into the Big Sandy River.

Twenty-two students managed to escape.

It took ten weeks to recover all of the bodies.
