Solid Blue fans take over downtown before UK vs. Florida game

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – University of Kentucky fans tailgated all around Kroger Field, awaiting Saturday night’s game.

Fans have been looking forward to the game, with hopes of breaking their 30-year losing streak against Florida.

The general consensus floating around tailgates is the Florida Gators team is nothing but a bunch of gator meat. Some Solid Blue fans grilled gator, saying it signifies their feelings toward Florida’s team. Fans say showing that dislike of the opposing team is part of the game.

UK hasn’t won over Florida in 30 years, but this year fans are tailgating with confidence that the cats will break the streak.

“This is our time to shine,” said Solid Blue fan Ryan Hinkley. “We’ve got them at home, great team, great coach, great fan-base out here for a Saturday night game. We’re ready.”

Fans say win or lose, their Cats are still their Cats and they’ll support them no matter what.
