Solid Blue fans not worried about tighter security measures

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Whether it’s preparation on the court or on the concourse, folks heading to Rupp Arena for a Tuesday night game, didn’t mind the changes to security.

You could say, they were ready. Many folks walking into the arena with coat in hand, knowing they’d have to take it off anyway as part of newer UK security regulations. Even if you’re not wearing a coat, expect a twice over with a metal detector.

The new rules also mean all bags will be inspected by security.

Solid Blue fans didn’t seem to mind, Tuesday night. Many in agreement that tighter security makes them feel safer. The following are all banned from the arena:

• All illegal substances (tobacco products and electronic cigarettes are permitted in the designated smoking area outside of the arena)
• Artificial noisemakers and irritants
• Backpacks
• Banners
• Beach balls
• Cameras with detachable lenses
• Firearms
• Fireworks
• Frisbees
• Flasks
• Glass and aluminum containers
• Helium balloons
• Laser pointers/pens
• Mace
• Outside food and beverages
• Selfie sticks
• Signs larger than 24 inches by 24 inches
• Video or audio recorders
