Smash And Grab Theft At Sandy’s Sewing Center

According to Lexington Police, Sandy’s Sewing Center at 2519 Regency Road, was robbed around 3 in the morning Wednesday.

A thief threw a concrete stepping stone through the glass door of the store, allowing them entry.

"My son and I have been cleaning all night.  It’s amazing how much glass shattered everywhere," said Sandy Reid, owner of Sandy’s Sewing Center.

She also said a cash register was stolen.  She thought that will cost her about $400 to replace.

"They went through and pulled out drawers in some of the display cabinets, drawers on the other side.  Wiped everything off the counter and threw it on the floor," said Reid.

She said when the stone also damaged the carpet.

Something similar happened to her store about five years ago.  She said she’d just put up a display when 11 brand new sewing machines were stolen.  She said the thief was caught in that instance.

"You’re working hard trying to make a good living and be a good business person, and somebody who just has no regard for anything smashes through the door," said Reid.

She said she hopes the thief will be caught this time around.
